Question:

Would this work as a replacement spring for a dexter 072-078-00? I have a 4400lbs axle. Also, is there a option for a replacement spring with a little bit high capacity?

The Dexter 072-078-00 is a 2,200 lb capacity leaf spring. You can use a higher capacity leaf spring, however it won't increase the capacity of your trailer as the axle is still rated for that max capacity of 4,400 lbs.

My recommendation for a replacement is the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,000-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4" Long # e28SR which is rated for 2,500 lbs but is the same length. It is the best option we have to replace your current springs and will work very well for you. I've attached a video to assist.
