Question:

Hi im fabricating some panels for my jeep and i am installing 4 inch led taillights with rubber grommets. I was just curious, exactly how big should the hole be that will fit the rubber grommet as well as the 4inch light i would like to know before i start drilling

We have actually had this question before and we determined that the Black Rubber Grommet, # A45GB, mounts in a 4 1/2 inch diameter hole. It is compatible with a light like # STL23RB. You will also need a wiring harness like # A47PB.

The hole size should be 4.5" but I have it at 4-9/16" in diameter in a 3/16" thick plate. The grommet fits great but I cannot get the light pushed in. I have come close to breaking it trying to force it in. Should I add lube?

@Russell That may help. They are supposed to fit pretty tight. What light are you using?
