Question:
I recently purchased a 2009 Chevy Express 3500. This van was not wired at the factory with a towing package. I need everything electrical wise to be able to hook up a 16foot trailer with brakes to this van. I assume I will need the correct harnesss to get a 4-way and 7-way plus the controller for the brakes. You have a lot to offer on the site, and just prefer to have you give me the parts list needed so I can order correctly the first time.

I'd be happy to give you a list of all the parts you need to hook up your trailer with electric brakes to your 2009 Chevy Express van. You probably do have a hitch but didn't specify it so just to be thorough I'll give you the one that fits, which is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98861.
As for the wiring and brake controller, here is exactly what you need:
- T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118392
- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7
- Brake EVN # TK63VR
- Brake Control Harness # 20127
This will give you all the wiring you need and a very solid value for a quality brake controller that is very effective but at a much better price than others.
I have also added links to installation videos for you on a 2009 Chevy Express van as well as some help articles I recommend taking a look at.
