Recommended 2020 Acura TLX Hitch Receiver

Updated 07/11/2020 | Published 07/09/2020

Question:

I would like to purchase a hitch receiver for my car that does not protrude past my rear bumper. I see there is a Curt hitch that fits but I cannot tell from the photo whether it will stick out past my bumper. I’m just trying not to hit my shins all the time!! I have a history of doing this in the past so I’m trying to avoid it up front. I am only going to use a bike rack Saris Freedom- I will never be towing anything. Thanks

I know what you're talking about, I've done that a time or ten myself, and it hurts!

At present (July 2020) the Curt # C11535 is the only confirmed fit offered for the 2020 TLX. The Draw-Tite # 24942 isn't a confirmed fit for the 2020 model, and although there haven't been any appreciable changes between the 2019 and 2020 TLX, I can't guarantee the Draw-Tite will fit because the manufacturer hasn't confirmed it yet. When we installed in on a 2016 TLX, we found that the distance from the hitch pin hole to the farthest rearward part of the bumper was about 3 inches. Given that the distance between the face of the receiver and the hitch pin hole is typically about 2-1/2 inches, that would mean that the receiver tube sticks out about 1/2 inch far past the bumper.

We haven't had the opportunity to install the # C11535 as of yet, but from the photo's I've seen it appears that the face of the receiver tube is about even with the furthest rearward portion of the bumper. If it DOES extend out from the bumper any, I couldn't see it being any more than an inch which would be just about impossible to bump into.
