Is the included battery lithium? If so, would it be best to discharge the battery a few times to optimize long term performance?

The Solera 18V Power RV Awning Conversion Kit - Universal - 69" Arms - White # LC434730 does use a lithium-ion battery. The Replacement is 18.5V Lithium-Ion Battery for Solera 18V Power RV Awning # LC387959 if ever needed.

Lithium batteries work best when you fully use the cycle meaning fully charge and almost fully discharge. You don't want to overcharge it and also don't want to fully discharge it. As close as you can get in that cycle the best life you'll see from the battery.
