Is the included battery lithium? If so, would it be best to discharge the battery a few times to optimize long term performance?

The Solera 18V Power RV Awning Conversion Kit - Universal - 69" Arms - White # LC434730 does use a lithium-ion battery. The Replacement is 18.5V Lithium-Ion Battery for Solera 18V Power RV Awning # LC387959 if ever needed.

Lithium batteries work best when you fully use the cycle meaning fully charge and almost fully discharge. You don't want to overcharge it and also don't want to fully discharge it. As close as you can get in that cycle the best life you'll see from the battery.

Hey Dave, the battery is supposed to be good for 20-25 retractions before needing charged. If yours won't hold a charge it does sound like it needs to be replaced which we have with the part #LC387959.

The Solera 18 conversion kit part #LC434730 that you referenced does not use that mechanism at all so you'd just need to remove that with the old caps when you go to install the Solera kit and not worry about reinstalling it or anything similar…

The Solera switch part #LC285500 that you referenced was designed to fit all Solera power awnings so it would work well to give you an inside switch to extend and retract. This would not affect the batteries ability to charge either.
