Any problem with leaving the hitch suspended on the lifting device for extended periods?

Leaving the Companion suspended to the lifting device probably isn't the end of the world (a lot of people will actually just keep their hitch hooked up to the trailer's king pin....) but it's not ideal. If possible I would remove the hitch and store it on the ground to prevent any possible wear on the jaw mechanism over time.
