How To Choose Between a 2 to 3 or 3 to 2 Vehicle to Vehicle Converter Box

i have a rollback tow truck which was wired by whom ever as i am the 2nd owner of this truck.. its had wiring issues from the start. As they didnt wire the taillights brake blinker wires to match colors and in junction boxes. They used green on passside as ground instead of blinker/brake. Slowly ive been trying to rewire this correctly. Ive recentally added longer wires to the taillights n brake n blinker and have made the color of the wires do what they r called for like white all ground passside blinker/brake green and so on. Well i also added a amber led light and a red led for brake and tail. I wanted to make the amber be the blinker only n the other one the brake and tail. Well i thought i could just hook up the amber to the blinker wire and the red light to the taillight and brake as i was thinking that brake was separate and it is not its all on one wire so brake blinker is the green on pass/right side and yellow on drivers/left side. Now the body moves so there is a junction box at the front of body and one in the back. It has a whelen light bar on top of body n 2 led light bars. And the taillights brake and blinker rev n plate lights are mounted on a light bar that is on the back.of the truck and doesnt move with body. I have the converter that will seperate the brake and blinker but was wondering if i have to have a power wire that runs from the truck clear back to the back of body on truck or would the converter get its power from junction box. basicly i guess im asking if i can sperate the brake and blinker where its on the same truck not two different vehicles. I have a hard time with this wiring that runs down the chain of the rollback and feeds into the back junction box and then goes back up and feeds into front junction box.. specially the bar that the taillights brake and blinker dont move they r bolted to the truck body itself..

There are two different types of vehicle to vehicle converter boxes. The 2 to 3 like part # 118158 and the 3 to 2 like part # RM-732. If the vehicle has separate lights you are trying to combine then you need the 3 to 2 but if the vehicle has combined lights you are trying to separate you need a 2 to 3. The above options are both non-powered so they do not required a power wire from the battery as they pull power from the vehicles tail lights.
