Trailer Towing Capacity and Components for 2005 Toyota 4Runner V8

Question:

I have read the max towing is 7000 LB for my v8 toyota 4Runner 2005 so i just was wondering if all I have to do is buy a WD sway hitch and new reciever hitch to tow a trailer with 6,000lb dry weight and added weight with things in it up to 500-800 lbs. That would be under 7000 but just making sure my 4runner will work for this

I see the towing capacity of your 2005 Toyota 4Runner as 7,300 lbs with the V8. That is using a hitch like # 75155 along with a weight distribution system. For your application, I absolutely recommend using a weight distribution system and in my opinion the best option for you is the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # RP66084. This system will help your trailer and vehicle to ride level and will also keep your trailer from sway in a crosswind or passing semi truck. I've attached a video to assist. The only other thing you will need is the hitch ball # 19286.

If you don't already have the factory 7-way trailer wiring, then I recommend the # ETBC7L and the Curt Echo wireless brake controller # C51180. I've attached some videos and short articles to help.
