Recommendation for Kayak carrier on my Thule Xsporter

Does the Malone foam kayak block require strapping down to the cross bar on my Thule Xsporter rack or does the cut out hold it in place? Thanks

The Malone Foam Kayak Block for Truck Racks part # MPG159 is a big favorite for a lot f customers trying to do exactly what you are doing. They are large enough to fit around the larger crossbars that the Xporter has rather than most of the others for regular crossbars.

To hold them n if your don't have a good way yet use the etrailer Cam Buckle Cinch Straps w/ Buckle Protectors part # E98876-4 this is a 4 pack of straps that have buckle protectors to keep the hulls looking good and keeprs to secure the excess in so it doesn't flap around

When loaded with the kayaks they will not need to be strapped down the weight of the kayaks will hold them in place as well as the cut out you mentioned. When not in use I definitely recommend removing them and storing them in a secure area. They would likely hold on at low speeds under 10 mph but I sure wouldn't trust them any higher than that.

The Thule Hullaport Pro part #TH849000 can fit into the top channels of a Thule Xsporter Pro ladder rack since it was designed for attaching to load bar top channels. This is a folding carrier like you wanted as well.

If your J-style kayak carrier clamps are too small to fit around the Thule Xsporter Pro Ladder Rack then you will likely need a new kayak carrier, unless there is an option to use T-bolts to install the kayak carrier into the Xsporter crossbar…

The Replacement End Cap for Thule Xsporter Pro Truck Bed Ladder Rack #852-3214001 doesn't come with the screw to keep it in place. For that you need the Replacement M6-1x14mm Socket Head Cap Screw #THHD-27059.

You can use the regular Hull-A-Port, #TH834, by using adapter #THXADAPT11 to fit the Xsporter bars. I have linked a video review of this carrier for you.
