Question:
My first experience with 5th wheel - how do you remove the 5th wheel base - by watching an installation video it appears torque bolt has to be loosed before you can pull the release pin, is that correct ?? now to replace the base. - after is is replaced into the truck bed - what torque to you apply to tighten - is is necessary to apply a certain torque?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Correct, the draw-down bolt must be loosened each time you remove the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter part # BWRVK3500 from the truck bed and then torqued back down before use. The torque value is then listed in the instructions which is currently 60 ft. lbs. In order to tighten the draw-down bolt you will need a 3/4" socket so this and a toque wrench will be good tools to keep in the vehicle with you.
