Question:
Hi, I have my license plate mounted on my trailers / loading ramp. Currently if I accidentally drop the gate the bulb normally burns out/ filament breaks. Are LED lights less prone to burning out if the gate is dropped? The light fixture doesnt hit the ground. My thought is LEDS dont use filaments so if I accidentally drop the gate the light will still work. Do you have any experience with this?

Expert Reply:
LED lights are more durable and can withstand more shock than incandescent bulbs. Regular bulbs are pretty fragile by comparison.
That is not to say that the LEDs are indestructible but they will hold up better than regular bulbs when shock is applied.
It sounds like you need something like # RA-27C to help with lifting and lowering the gate. I have included a link to a video that shows how it works.
