Updated 10/02/2025 | Published 02/21/2020

Question:

I have a 1996 Rangertrail Boat trailer . the tires currently on it are st 215 75 r14. My rim is 6 3/4 inch wide , it has a center hole of 3 1/4 inch diameter and the lug nut spacing is 2 5/8inch center to center. I am thinking of replacing them what would you sell that would fit my trailer. Thinking about aluminum.

I recommend the Karrier ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire with 14" Aluminum Wheel part # AM32195 which is an aluminum 14" wheel with Karrier a ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire with a 3.19" pilot hole diameter. The 2-5/8" bolt pattern spacing that you mention means your bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2 so these will be compatible with your existing hubs.

The Kenda tire has 1,870 lb capacity at 50 psi and 2 year warranty. This is the only aluminum wheel/tire combo that has a radial tire that will be compatible with your trailer. The radial tire does better with highway driving because it flexes easier to prevent heat buildup from friction.

@BettyH Betty, I wish I had an answer for you but boat trailer manufacturers can switch the parts they use every few months if they want to. There is not really a way to know what every trailer as on it especially if it's an older trailer. I can tell you the most common size of trailer tires are 15 or 16 inches. Your current tires should have a side wall stamp that gives you a number. For example: ST205/75R15. Let me know if you find anything and I am happy to help.

@Kickstart That’s a great question! I wish I could give you an exact answer, but boat trailer manufacturers often change up the parts they use even within the same model year so there isn’t a standard size or pitch across all trailers, especially with one from 1996. What I can tell you is that the most common trailer wheel lug sizes are ½"-20 or 9/16"-18, but the best way to know for sure is to check one of your current lug nuts or the wheel stud itself. Your tire sidewall will also have a stamp like ST205/75R15 or ST225/75R16, which can help narrow things down since 15" and 16" wheels are the most common on boat trailers.
