Yes, it is very possible to install/fit a 7-way trailer connector on a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. I first recommend looking under the vehicle for a square ten pin connector. This (if present) will be located behind the rear bumper near the spare tire and will match the end of the 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket part # HM40975-11933 which is what I recommend using if this connector is present.

If you don't have the above square ten pin connector then you will need to start with a 4-way, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C55504 and then convert this to a 7-way, the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7.
