Part # 37185 is a universal item that can be installed on virtually any vehicle, so there are no vehicle specific instructions, but I will outline how it is done. The 4 pole connector, Green/Yellow/Brown wires, will connect to the 4 pole already on your 2006 Toyota Tacoma. The Blue wire is run up the truck and connected to the brake output wire on your brake controller, usually also blue. The White wire is a ground wire and should be grounded to the vehicle frame. The Black wire is run up to the vehicle battery to provide a 12V power source. Depending on what it is powering, you would add an inline fuse to protect the circuit. If you do not need a power source for the trailer, this connection can be omitted. The Purple wire is an Auxiliary wire that can be used for reverse lights, reverse-lockout to prevent surge trailer brakes engaging while vehicle in reverse, or it can be an additional 12V power source if needed. Again, the Purple wire can be omitted if not needed.
You can mount the bracket and 7 Pole any where you like. Pick a spot that is easy to access and is sturdy to avoid the connector falling off.
Also check out part # ETBC7. This is a kit that provides everything necessary for a brake controller and 7Way install minus the brake controller itself. There are some good install videos on the ETBC7 page.
