Question:
I can see where the blue wire was cut in the back of the truck. However my question is what color is the wire from the factory for the trailer breaks? I do not see a blue wire running down to the back of the truck from under the dash. Thank you.

If your 2004 Dodge Ram has the factory 7-Way or 4-Way connector, then there should be a plug located under the driver's side of the vehicle right behind the front wheel well (see attached image). There will be more wires on the hood side of the connector than the hitch/rear side. Usually the factory wire that supplies power to the trailer brakes is blue, but I highly recommend testing them with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to verify this.
You mentioned that the blue wire was cut somewhere on the truck. What you can do once you find the correct wire at this plug is use 10 gauge wiring like # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) to extend the wire back to the brake output pin on the 7-Way connector.
