Do you know if the Tekonsha brake controllers can be setup in a 24v system, ie truck?

Yes, it is possible to install a Tekonsha brake controller like the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160 which is what I recommend on a 24 volt system. In order to do so you will need to obtain a 24 volt relay from your local automotive parts store and then some various primary wire, circuit breakers, and wire connectors like what is included with the Power Wire Kit for Electric Trailer Brake Controllers part # BRK-ELECKIT.

I have attached a diagram for you to assist once you get all of the needed components.

Yes you need the diode arrow to point towards the brake controller. That will allow the voltage to travel into the controller but not backfeed back on to the Highlander in any way. If you need a diode we have the part #RM-690.
