Is Pulling Out Breakaway Pin of Trailer Breakaway System Difficult
Updated 10/08/2019 | Published 10/07/2019 >
Question:
How much force is required to pull the plunger on the breakaway switch? ... I pulled it by hand for a quick test and am unable to pull it out. Wondering if it may be jammed/frozen.

Expert Reply:
Breakaway pins are designed to be somewhat difficult to pull out by hand which helps prevent them from accidentally getting pulled when not needed. I've yanked one out by hand once and I really had to pull hard on it. If this system was ever needed the weight of the trailer would be what pulls it out which is considerably more force than a person could exert by hand.
I attached a review video link for more info on this for you to check out as well.
