Question:
What is the widest tire I can put on a rim that has a tire size on it of 4.80-8. This is for an old trailer made into a leaf vac. It marks the lawns when wet, it’s not on the highway Thanks.

Expert Reply:
The widest tire you can use on an 8" diameter x 3-3/4" wide trailer wheel is a 5.70-8 part # AM10010 which is 5.8" wide and will be about 1.2" wider than the 4.80/4.00-8 tire you have now. If you replace both the wheel and tire you could go to a 215/60-8 part # AM3H310 or part # AM3H290 which is 8.9" wide and will be 4.3" wider than the 4.80/4.00-8 tire you have now.
