Troubleshooting Lippert Stabilizer Jack No Longer Working

Updated 09/23/2019 | Published 09/20/2019

Question:

Hi I have a 2019 Avenger ATI with LCI MODEL # 337199 on the Front and Rear. We Bought the TT NEW and we brought the TT to a seasonal site this year, Rear stabilizers worked just fine when we parked it. Two weeks ago labor day weekend we needed to take the rig home and upon the last things needed to be done was to retract the stabilizers, front went up just fine, went to the back and pushed the switch and nothing, scratched my head and tried to find if a fuse had blown for some reason and none found, looked for the manual bar to retract it, bam no bar given to us, now i am a little frustrated. On a whim went back to the fuse panel and just pulled them out and looked super hard nothing no burned. Put fuses back in and then i go back outside still trying to figure out what to, so I push the switch and they go up oh thank god. We get the TT home and get it parked, the front go down just fine, go to the rear and nothing again !!! And I still dont have a manual bar to lower it. Parked it with just the front down and go to the internet to find what the heck is going on, I find the manual bar bought it and had it shipped. I lowered the rear stabilizer down manually. So the next day after work I go and take the switch out and see if something had happened, nothing again. I take the TT lower underpanel down to see if something was a foul with the wires, nothing argg!!, I take the motor off and see if it has anything noticeable nothing. Put it back on and nothing, as i pace around the unit I try the switch again and for 2 seconds it went and then stopped. What is wrong with the thing??????

I really sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with the rear Lippert Stabilizer Jack # LC298707 on your travel trailer. The sporadic operation you're experiencing makes me think there's either an issue with the power source/connection or with a weak ground.

The first thing I recommend doing is tracing the power wire all the way to the battery, making sure there aren't any pinched, exposed, or otherwise damaged portions of wire that need to be repaired/replaced. Verify that the 12V battery is in good condition and fully charged, as a depleted battery can definitely lead to strange behavior.

If this all looks good make sure the ground wire is also securely attached to the negative post on the battery. Check for any corrosion or debris that might be preventing a solid connection.

If this doesn't resolve the issue please let me know and we can keep troubleshooting.
