Are The Brophy In Bed Tie Downs Compatible With My 2016 Ram 3500 Dually?

Updated 12/23/2025 | Published 12/21/2025

Question:

So are the Brophy HSAB clamp on camper tie down mounts not compatible with a dually? Is there another option for a 2016 Ram 3500 DRW? I’m needing to tie down a Bigfoot 2500 Series 10.4 This truck but will be hauling a 10.4

Hey Cary,

The Brophy In Bed Camper Tie Downs- Extra Clearance # HSAB are compatible with your 20116 Ram 3500 Dually. These extra clearance tie downs are meant for the dually applications so you will have no issues with that. There are also frame mounted tie downs if you want to let me know your bed size, cab, and running board style if you have them I can locate some frame mounted options as well. Frame mount tends to be more secure and a better tie down option.

Let me know some more information about your truck and I can get that together for you.

I just looked up the weight of a 2500 Series 10.4 on the Bigfoot web site and it is showing that the weight of this truck camper is 3220 lbs. In my opinion, you will be better served to have frame mounted tie downs like the Torklift products. The Brophy tie downs attach to the rails on the top of the bed of your pickup truck. I don't know the composition of your bed rails but the rails may not be able to tolerate the rocking motion of the truck camper using the Brophy's. I also recall seeing the Brophy's are rated to around 2000 lbs. In my 2018 F150, the bed rails are aluminum so not to much strength. My truck camper is less than 2000 lbs so I'm currently using Brophy's but watching them closely to make sure that they will work for me. I've got a sneaky suspicion that I'll be switching to the Torklifts before my summer trip from Florida to Alaska. It's a long way to go and would be horrible to have this type of problem along the way. Another suggestion would be to call BigFoot. On their web site contact page, they do have a phone number so you should be able to reach them. I know that most manufacturers love to be able to help their customers (even if they didn't buy it new). Good luck in your decision making, Dennis

So, Even though I used them on SRW Heavy-Duty trucks, there is no indication that they would not work on a dually for an appropriate sized camper. I mainly used them for a 2400 # slide-in, pop-up truck camper, but I also transported a 3500# hard side camper across the US ( CA to VA) with no issues. These will work if you check them often (stopping for gas and "breaks") without any rough terrain. I bought two sets and have not been disappointed at all.
