Can Sliding B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Hitch Be Used with Reese Sidewinder Pin Box

Question:
I have a short bed Titan with a Patriot 18k slider and the RV i am interested in has a Reese 16k sidewinder. Why is the BandW Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider # RVK3270 not compatible with Reese sidewinder? if not compatible can the sidewinder pivot be made stationary to gain the 22in extension keeping the patriot pivot the primary pivot?

The B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3270 can be used with a Reese Sidewinder Pin Box. As you alluded to in your question, you will just need to make sure the hitch is locked out in the forward/towing position at all times. This is the case with any sliding 5th wheel hitch.
Because the Sidewinder moves the pivot point back 22 inches you should have plenty of cab clearance without having to rely on the hitch's slider travel.
With the hitch in the forward position you won't need to lock out the Sidewinder itself. Simply add the Custom Wedge # SWW-06 to prevent the king pin from pivoting at the hitch and you're all set!
