Will 18 Long Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank Affect Trailer Hitch Weight Rating

Question:
I have an Equalizer hitch that came with a 12inch shank but with it I cant lower the tailgate when hooked up. I see you sell an 18inch shank and I was wondering if this extra length would affect my tow rating? I am pulling with a 2019 F-150 with the Max Tow package and pulling a 6,000 lb camper. Thanks,

The extra long Equal-i-zer shank # EQ90-02-4600 will not affect your trailer towing rating since this is part of a weight distribution (WD) system and it has a tongue weight (TW) range of 600 lbs - 1,400 lbs. Please note that this is labeled as an 18" long shank but from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the adjustment holes measures 14". The 14" is actually more of an important factor so you want to compare this with what you currently have.
