Recommended Hitch Extender for Weight Distribution System So You Can Lower Tailgate

Question:

HI, I have a 2022 Forest River Alpha Wolf 33BH-L. Hitch weight 953 lb. GVWR 9863 lb. Im looking for a hitch extension at least 10in that allow me to keep using my weight distribution system.

I assume you want to lower your tailgate with the trailer hooked up? If that's the case, I don't recommend a hitch extension as they reduce capacity and add another failure point. That said, what you can do is switch to a longer weight distribution system shank which will give you clearance for the tailgate and it won't reduce capacity or create more failure points. I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank part # EQ90-02-4600. These are mostly universal so you don't need to worry about brands.
