Selecting A Brake Controller For A 2019 Mazda 6 Sport

I am trying to decide on a brake controller for my 2019 mazda6 sport. Ive been leaning toward the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 . My brake pedal switch has 6 wires on it - which control the adaptive cruise control, electric parking brake and the automatic hold brake when idling at a stop. As you can see, I am reluctant to blindly mess with it. I understand that a time delay controller does need the stop light feed from the brake pedal. But a proportional controller uses a built in inertial sensor, does it also need the brake pedal input the red wire on the adapter harness? The 2 wireless proportional controllers the Curt Echo Mobile and the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless do not have a brake light input as far as I can see. If any one has an answer to my question whether a proportional controller needs wired brake input or has specific info on which wire on the brake pedal on the Mazda6 is for the red wire on the adapter harness - that would be much appreciated. please reply to my email- [email protected] l m palladino

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 and the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 do not require the stop light switch. While these brake controllers do not require the stop light switch most proportional controllers like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 do. It uses the inertia to sense the amount of braking but still needs the stop light switch to indicate to the controller when to engage the brakes. As a result the red wire does still need to to be connected in your Mazda.
I recommend the Curt as the easiest to install and use. Once a 7-way with a functioning 12-volt feed is installed, it's plug and play.
