Question:

I need to replace the master cylinder #85841 on a model mpd 85778. if this is no longer available, is there a replacement?

The Atwood master cylinder 85841 is no longer available. Atwood doesn't product any actuator components anymore so it's getting harder and harder to track down replacement parts.

We do not have any other replacement units that would be compatible with your Atwood actuator so your best option at this point is really to replace the entire actuator assembly. This will also ensure that replacement parts will be readily available if needed down the line.

To replace the Atwood 85778 model actuator the Demco # DM72VR for drum brakes or # DM62VR for disc brakes will work really well. These have a 7,000 pound towing weight capacity, a trigger-style latch that's easy to use for a secure connection with the hitch ball, and are made right here in the USA. They are compatible with 3 inch wide trailer tongues.
