Question:
I PURCHASED THIS WIRE PN 54006-057 FOR MY RV WILL I BE ABLE TO INSTALL THAT AS LONG AS I MATCH THE WIRE COLORS TOGETHER? OR SHOULD I HAVE BOUGHT THE OTHER PN FOR THE RV
asked by: STEVE
Expert Reply:
The Bargman 7-Way, RV-Style Connector # 54006-057 has the following functions by wire color:
- Black: 12V Power
- White: Ground
- Red: Left Turn/Stop
- Blue: Brakes
- Brown: Right Turn/Stop
- Green: Running Light/Tail Light
- Yellow: Reverse Lights
You will need to match up the wires from your trailer with these functions to the corresponding wire color on the connector as opposed to matching strictly color for color. The reason for this is the colors of the wires on your trailer may not match up to the colors on the wires of the connector.
It may be easiest to do that with Trailer Wiring Junction Box # 38656 and Ring Terminals # 44-5310A. I strongly recommend watching the install video of this connector which I linked for you.
