Determining Needed Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter Height
Updated 02/17/2012 | Published 02/13/2012 >
Question:
I have bought a 5th wheel camper and I need the adaptor coupler to go the the gooseneck ball in the pickup. What I want to know is, if I go with the coupler that is 12inch to 16inch in adjustment would I be on the safe side knowing this would not have to be any higher than this? Is their a possibility it could be taller than the tallest one you have? If so what would be your recommendations??

The easiest way to do this would be to determine the exact adapter height you need. You will need to take some measurements. Jack the trailer so that it is level, and then back the truck up as if you were hitching it. Measure the distance from the bottom of the pin box (not the king pin) to the top of the gooseneck ball. (See provided diagram). This distance is the adapter height needed. You will also need to make sure there is a minimum of 6 inches clearance between the bottom of the trailer loft and the top of the truck bed side rails as shown in the diagram.
We do not offer an adapter that adjusts any higher than 16 inches. By taking the measurement, you will know the needed height before ordering.
