What is the difference between a 480 and a 480R in the thule Traverse?

The Thule Traverse 480 has been discontinued and is only compatible with square load bars which are also discontinued. The Thule Rapid Traverse Foot Pack # TH480R are compatible with the Aero Style bars like the AeroBlade or WingBar Evo, the ProBar Evo bars, and the SquareBar that has a slot on the underside. I've linked the page to all these crossbar options to assist.

The ProBar Evo # TH713700 and # TH713600 are the only crossbars that can be cut to custom lengths like the older square bars because the channels run the entire length of the bars.

Thule (Square) Cross bars (50") & Thule 480 Traverse Foot Pack, would these work on 2021 crv?

@Brian Unfortunately, they are not. The Fit Kit item # TH145046 that you need for a 2021 Honda CRV isn't compatible with the older Rapid Traverse Feet for Thule Crossbars item # TH480R. Here are the parts you'll need to reuse your square bars on your 2021 CRV: Fit Kit item # TH145046 Evo Clamp Feet for Thule Crossbars item # TH710501
