How To Run a Trailer Battery Charge Line on a 2018 Ford F-150
Updated 05/16/2019 | Published 05/15/2019 >
Question:
I have 2018 f150 3.5l non tow package. I have installed the 7 way connector and brake controller. They function fine except for the tow fault code and battery charge wire. The ford dealer said the connector under the hood to the fuse box does not have the charge wire and they do not sell that connector. Do you know of a solution? I have a 5th wheel so Id like to charge battery when under way. Thanx

If the circuit for the 12 volt power to the trailer connector is not present on your 2018 Ford F-150 then you can easily run this yourself using the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit part # RM-156-75. This kit would attach to the 12 volt power wire on the back of your connector and then it would get run up to the vehicle's battery.
I have personally not heard of this issue before but if the dealer said the circuit was not present then I would proceed assuming this is correct. I however would first check to make sure you just aren't missing a fuse and that you have the tow/haul mode activated, if equipped. The 12 volt power circuit might also not become active until a load is detected.
