Can the Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box Be Used with a Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch

I would like to have the cushion, but my concern with the design on the Trailair is the Hinge Bolt placed far behind the pin and hitch head. I do not know what type of forces can be generated on that hinge bolt when the trailer is being forced away from the hitch especially when backing up I would think. As you know, the pin box is captured by the Demco hitch head and turning with the Demco hitch engages the large gear to push the trailer backward. Can the Hinge Bolt and lower frame of the trailair handle that twisting force?

Yes, you can use the Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box part # LC158778 with the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch like part # DM8550034. However, you will want a new capture plate, the Demco Hijacker Autoslide Capture Plates for Trailair Rota-Flex Pin Boxes part # DM6171. The capture plate that comes with the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch will work with the Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box but the Demco Hijacker Autoslide Capture Plates for Trailair Rota-Flex Pin Boxes (Also Fits Trailair Air Ride) will provide a better fit.
Unfortunately, I don't have any capacity specifications for the hinge bolt on the Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box but I can assure you it is up to par. This pin box was designed and tested by Lippert who is an industry leader in trailer parts. We have also not heard back of the hinge bolt failing from any of our customers and neither has Lippert.
