Question:

I read the string here....= I understand the Universal platform will work, but am still curious if theres any way to fit the 60 x 49 Pioneer platform rack to a standard Thule square bar kit over the Ultragroove metal tonneau? I currently have the TH1078 Thule Multi-Sport Rack, and am trying to avoid buying the Rhino Rack heavy duty racks. Thank you

You can indeed install a Thule Square Bar Roof Rack over the Pace Edwards UltraGroove Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-KMTA10A38 that you referenced but it will still require the Universal version of the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform. For the roof rack you will need the Rapid Podium Foot Pack # TH460R, the Fit Kit # THKIT3101 and 60 Inch Square Bars # TH712500.

Then to mount to a standard roof rack like this you will need either the 58" x 47" Pioneer Platform # RR42115BF or the smaller 48" x 38" # RR42114BF. These are the Pioneer Platforms that are designed to attach to roof rack crossbars and will work perfectly for this setup.

The Pioneer Platform # RR35TB that you referenced will only attach directly to specific Rhino-Rack mounting feet or to their Heavy-Duty bars with an adapter. Unfortunately there isn't an adapter available that will let them mount to other brand crossbars.
