A-Frame Coupler For Trailer That Measures 8-1/2 Inches Wide At The A-frame Tongue
Updated 04/17/2019 | Published 04/16/2019 >
Question:
Your A frame coupler2 is 9 1/2inch wide. Where the arms on my trailer come together where the coupler fits are only 8 1/2. Would it be ok to cut/slice the coupler and bend in to fit? Thanks.

I went out to the warehouse and measured the coupler part # CA-5210-B and the inside width of the coupler measures 8-3/4 inches. The 9-1/2 inch wide measurement is the outside width of the coupler. If the spot on your tongue where the coupler installs does not measure 8-3/4 or close to it you can shim the coupler with a thin piece of metal when you weld it on.
It is not a good idea to cut the the coupler or the trailer frame because it can negatively affect the structural integrity of your towing setup.
