Question:
Hey there, I have a Mazda 3 and my exhaust is 2 in, I just purchased an exhaust tip that is 4 in in diameter, will it make my car louder or is it just for show?

The size of the exhaust tip has very little if at all to do with sound so the exhaust tips you just purchased are more or less for show. However, if you were to use a resonated exhaust tip such as the Bully Round Resonated Bolt-on Exhaust Tip part # PM-5104 then this would produce a slightly more crackly sound. With that being said, the best way to really change the sound of your exhaust for the better is with a cat-back system, the MagnaFlow Cat-Back Exhaust System part # MF15297 for hatchback or part # MF15294 for sedan models. These systems use a larger diameter exhaust pipe so they will be less restrictive and the performance muffler will provide a deep sound on acceleration. They do increase both horsepower and torque as well so it's not just all show.
