Question:

Can I use 7/16 inch diameter round u bolts on a 2 1/2inch diameter axel rated At 3,500 lbs? The old u bolts were 1/2inch but the store I got the new ones from only had 7/16inch for my 2 1/2inch axel. Needed them in a pinch, will it be ok ? Thanks for your help !

As long as the 7/16" U-Bolts that you are using fit your 3,500 lb axle diameter correctly and they are rated for a 3,500 lb axle then you are good to go. We only carry 1/2" U-Bolts, parts # CE23002 and # APUBR-1, but when I reached out to my contact at Dexter Axle, who is one of the leading axle manufacturers, they said that 7/16" U-Bolts are fairly common for 3,500 lb axles.
