The best way to move the cradles backward or forward on the arms of the Thule Spare Me 2 Bike Carrier, # TH963PRO, is to mount the carrier according to the installation details which I have linked for reference. Then remove the anti-sway cradle part that snaps on leaving just the cradles.
Next, you will have to firmly grab a cradle and turn it back and forth while pushing or pulling it in the direction you want. The cradles are made to be difficult to adjust. The reason is that it prevents the bikes and cradles from sliding back and on the on the arms.
A co-worker who once worked in a bike shop said using an aerosol hair spray on the arms of the bike rack will work as a lubricant until it dries. He stated that is what they used at the bike shop to install hand grips on bikes.
