How to Prevent Cradles on Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934 Bike Rack From Moving Around
Updated 07/09/2014 | Published 07/06/2014 >
Question:
I purchased a Thule 934 Hitching Post 4 bike rack from etrailer last year. There are 4 mount brackets on each extending arm to hold a bike. Theses mount brackets slide on the extended arms during travel so that the bikes are all bunched together. The hitch is stable and the bikes are secure in the brackets but there is clearly a problem with the bracket tension on the arm. Have you seen this before and do you have suggestions?

I believe you're saying the cradles are sliding around, is that correct? This is not unheard of, and can occasionally happen.
If that's what you're describing, there's an easy fix that I learned years ago when working at a bike shop. First, remove the end caps from the rack arms. Then, slide off the cradles. Use a soft cloth and some rubbing alcohol to clean any grease and residue from the cradles and the bike rack arms. Then spray some aerosol hair spray on the interior of the cradles, and slide them where you want them. The hair spray acts as a lubricant when wet, but once it dries, it will become tacky and should do an excellent job of preventing the cradles from moving about.
