Can Shank for Weight Distribution Hitch be Modified

Question:
Are you able to cut a drop shank for a WDH? I currently have a EA-Z lift hitch that has a 2.5 inch drop and I am needing a 4, the only drop shanks that fit my need are longer and might scrape the ground. Can I cut the remaining shank that is not needed off?

I do not recommend modifying a shank for a weight distribution hitch or cutting off any part of the shank; there is no way to guarantee any modified shank can work. Additionally, even though we do not carry EA-Z Lift products, I would be strongly willing to bet using a shank that was modified would void the warranty.
I have added a link to our selection of weight distribution shanks for you to take a look at as well.
