When you install the CE Smith Heavy Duty, Vertical Bunk Brackets - 85 and 95 Degree Set - Galvanized Steel # CE26233-34GA the brackets will give you the appropriate bend, so you will drill mounting holes after marking and removing the bracket. When installing the bunk board once the mounts are secured, you can drill directly through the board as you stated.
