Does Draw Tite Front Hitch for 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 Install Through Skid Plate

Updated 06/09/2020 | Published 12/03/2018

Question:

I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 that Im trying to put this hitch on, and the instruction are vague about how to install the rear portion of it through the splash shield. Im not super mechanically inclined, so I dont know how to remove the splash shield or anything, nor do I know if I should be cutting through the shield, or where to cut, etc. Is there something Im missing, or is there a trick to getting this installed through or under the splash shield? Its not something Id like to remove, if possible. Thanks.

I am looking at what you sent in a picture of and it appears you are trying to install the front hitch part # 65064 too far back on the vehicle. If you check out the picture I attached you'll see that front hitches actually install in front of the panel you have pointed out in your picture.

Your answer, with all respect, was bogus. I have exactly the same problem with my 65064, with the same vehicle. I'm not trying to install it too far back. This is more question on my part than comment.

I am really sorry about the confusion. The splash shield will indeed need to be lowered/loosened in your case so that the hitch can be installed. Based on a couple customer reviews you may also need to drill a small hole in the shield so the bolt can go through.
