Is Additional Wiring Needed to Install Redarc Brake Controller in 2016 Porsche Cayenne
Published 11/06/2018 >
Question:
I own a 2016 Porsche Cayenne and am considering installing the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite. I understand that the Tekonsha P3 controller requires a wiring harness incorporating a relay in order to work properly. Does the Redarc also require this?

Yes, you are going to need to get the additional wiring to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR in your 2016 Porsche Cayenne.
This harness, which you can read about in the linked help article describing what you need to install a brake controller in a 2005-current Volkswagen Touareg or Porsche Cayenne, will require you to obtain parts from a VW dealer.
As per the tech bulletin, "You will need the following parts (pictured above) that are available from a Volkswagen dealer - 1 connector housing (#1J0-972-782) and 2 wire/terminal assemblies (#000-979-228). Cut the wires from both wire assemblies in half so that you have 4 wires, each with a clip on one end and bare wire on the other. Connect the bare end of each of these wires to one of the wires on your brake controller, then slip the other end of each wire into its appropriate slot on the housing. The slots are numbered to make it easier to connect each wire correctly."
