Video Transcript for Review of CURT Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Aluminum Ball Mount 2 Inch Hitch - C86PQ

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Curt aluminum ball mount for your two-inch trailer hitch receiver. Now, this ball mount is gonna be a great option for you to consider if you want something strong, yet lightweight, easy to deal with. This is made from forged aluminum, so it's a lot lighter than your traditional steel mounts, but it's gonna make it easier to handle when you're installing or swapping it out, but you're still getting plenty of strength. In terms of capacity, this is rated up to 8,000 pounds of gross trailer weight and 800 pounds of tongue weight, which is gonna be plenty for most common towing needs.

Plus, this has been tested to meet recognized safety standards, so you know it's built with reliability in mind, but it's also designed to be flexible. When you have it in this orientation, you're gonna get about a four-inch drop. And then when you flip it over like that, you're gonna get about a three-inch rise. So that's gonna help you keep your trailer level, depending on your setup. That adjustability makes it useful across different vehicles or trailers.

One thing that a lot of people like about this is it's gonna hold up well over time. The aluminum construction is obviously going to resist rust and corrosion. So whether you're dealing with rain, dirt, or sun exposure, it's built to last without getting all worn out. So, again, this is gonna slide into your two-inch trailer hitch receiver. This does not include a pin and clip, so if you don't already have one, we have several options here at etrailer.

This is going to work with the typical trailer ball with a one-inch ball hole. So if you don't already have a hitch ball that'll work with a one-inch ball hole, I did some quick looking here and found this option here for you. This is a chrome-plated hitch ball that will slide into that one-inch ball hole. So if you think that's something that would work well for you, you can take that part number, pop it in the search field of our website, and that will take you to that ball and you can add that to your order. I'm looking for my tape measure here.

Let me see if I can give you some measurements. Line this up here so you can see. So I'm gonna be measuring from the end of the mount, all the way to the center of our hitch pin hole. Kinda tricky, but I think we can do it. So from the end to the center, looks like we're sitting pretty close to nine inches. Overall length, it looks like we're sitting right at about, let's say, 11 1/2 half inches, if that measurement's important to you. And then measuring from. Let me get my ruler. It's gonna be a little bit easier to manage. The center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the shank, about 2 1/2 inches. I think that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name's Andy. Thank you for joining me.

My hitch on my sedan is very low to the ground. This provides the rise I need, is lightweight so I can keep it in all the time, and will never rust. Perfect for towing my kayak trailer.
by:
Light, strong, easy to install and doesn't corrode. Hard to find fault with this unit. I tow a small cargo trailer with it and it's flawless.
by:
Bought this and a 40083 2" SS hitch ball. I have 1 trailer that doesn't drop enough to rest on the ball in all cases, so I got a second one of these set to the 1" rise. My other one is set for 2" drop. Now I get proper ft for both trailers. etrailer has a great selection and is my go to for trailer accessories.

I have made several purchases over the years and always get outstanding support and guidance based on what I tell them about want the outcome to be. This purchase was again perfect. They always make the right recommendations and then follow up. Good customer service is rare these days. Highly recommend etrailer.

This solved the height problem for my new car and the aluminum looks great.
by:
I was a little skeptical about getting an aluminum ball mount, but it is really great quality and will never rust, so I'm not disappointed.
by:
Half the weight same strength

Ausum I had aluminum hitches in the past. Very clean and made stronger
by:
No rust is what I wanted. No rust is what I got at a competitive price.
by:
It’s more of a sandblasted texture not shiny and smooth different from others I’ve had looks great
by:
Excellent product, lightweight but strong - secures my 2-horse trailer perfectly!
by:
Very high quality product. Actually needed hitch for the rise position on a low car hitch to tow a U-Haul. (they U Haul, suggest a 18" ball height) Light weight with the same strength as a steel rustable hitch! Heck aircraft are made of Alum. must handle a trailer tow.

This riser works perfectly, no rattling in receiver as some do, Still looks like brand new a year later.

@Scott We're glad to hear that!
by:
It appears to be well made, but it is very loose in the receiver and very noisy. I purchased an Anti-rattle hitch clamp locally, and I hope it does the trick. It does make me question the quality of the product. I have to start to drive about 3K miles in the next couple days, and that rattling from the ball mount would drive me crazy.

An anti-rattle device should do the trick. If the one you purchased does not work out for you, we have several here at etrailer including Item # e99007.

E-trailer always has the best selection; this ball mount is aluminum, so it's light weight yet still has a more than adequate tow rating for my application. This is exactly what I wanted and needed, and E-trailer once again came through for me.
by:
Bought this aluminum mount with a SS ball to avoid the usual rusty and gnarly looking, carbon steel, mount that happens over time. It will look good on my 2024 Mazda CX-90. I tow a trailer about 6 times a month so I plan on keeping this inside the vehicle in rear storage when not in use.
by:
Very well made, corrosion resistant, light and strong. This draw bar also looks great on my Tacoma. It would be better if the weight rating was stamped into the metal rather than using an afixed label.

It has been great to not have to worry about rust from my draw bar. No complaints about durability and performance.

great product. No problems pulling my sixteen foot Cargo trailer.hauling three dirt bikes and camping equipment.

Nice and lightweight! Like the look as well, and no more rust!
by:
Great drop hitch! Still looks like new. The sticker stained it a bit for some weird reason. With all aluminum hitches, always use a stainless steel pin or periodically remove the pin to clean and lightly grease it. The two different metals will galvanically corrode.
by:
High quality machined aluminum hitch. I’m glad I made this purchase for its lightweight, and heavy towing capacity. It was delivered on time at a great price..
by:
so far, this has been a no issue tow bar for my little 1500 lb. trailer. coupled it with a stainless ball to acheive a nice look for on the back of my all white truck.
by:
Yes the trailer, ball hitch and battery you installed worked great. It has served us well and you did a great job.
by:
Crack after 6 months of use threw it away because I was mad
