Will Tekonsha BRAKE-EVN # TK63VR Drain Vehicle Battery When Plugged In
Published 10/10/2018 >
Question:
I installed the Tekonsha TK63VRcontroller in a 2016 Sierra 2500 using a prewired plug from tekonsha. No trailer is connected and I have two dots that stay on the display when the truck is turned off. Please help.

Brake controllers like the Tekonsha # TK63VR are all designed to use a sleep mode that allows them to keep their settings programmed so you don't need to reset the settings each time you turn on your vehicle. Disconnecting it will remove your settings. The sleep setting normally takes a few minutes after you turn the vehicle off for it to kick in and then it keeps a very minimal draw like a vehicle clock that can stay for many months at a time without draining your battery. It is awakened from that sleep mode when it sees a draw on the brake output wire from a trailer connection and the brakes are applied for the first time.
