Is It a Problem if Yakima Hitch Bike Rack Tilts Slightly to One Side
Updated 09/24/2018 | Published 09/21/2018 >
Question:
Car: CX-3, Hitch: Draw-Tite 1 1/4, Rack: Yakima Holdup EVO 1 1/4 Problem: Bike rack tilt to the right after turning speed knob to tight up, no bike loaded to the rack yet. There seems to be some space between hitch receiver and rack tongue and turning the speed knob seems to be pushing towards upper right corner of the hitch receiver causing the tilt. Should I adjust the hitch receiver to tilt to the left to compensate the rack or should I add some spacer on bottom right of rack tongue? Any other way to fix this? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
On your Yakima Hold-Up Bike Rack # Y02445 and others with an anti-rattle feature the anti-rattle device in the shank applies pressure to push the rack's shank against the inside of the hitch receiver tube. This pressure can cause some slight tilting of the rack, especially if the hitch tube is not perfectly level. This in itself is not a problem.
Your hitch has no adjustment capability; it has one place to install and no user-adjustments are possible.
