Replacing Dexter Idler Hub 008-258-05 with Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-257-5UC3

Question:
Dear etrailer, I have a new NuCamp T@G XL tear trailer, 1200 lbs, 2000 GVW, with a single torflex axle, Dexter hub part # 008-258-05, 5 bolt x 4.5. I want to add electric brakes there is a mounting plate 4 square. The Dexter part number I want is kit # K08-257-91 this kit has hub part # 008-257-05. Questions: 1 Is your part # 8-257-5UC3 the equivalent of Dexter Axle part # K-008-257-91? 2 The 8-257-5UC3 description states that it only accommodates 8, 10, and 12inch wheels. I have a 14inch wheel. Will this product work with my 14inch wheel? Does the original Dexter part #K08-257-91 accommodate 14inch wheels, or do I need to step up to a 3500 lb rated part? 3 Is there any way to tell spindle size without taking the axle apart? Im not sure if I have a 1inch spindle or slightly larger looking at the two bearings that are compatible with my current hub, Dexter hub part # 008-258-05. 4 If I do need to step up to a larger version, do I need to change out the spindle? Is this possible to do with the torflex suspension ?

Yes, our part number system uses # 8-257-5UC3 but it is the exact same as Dexter part K08-257-91. Dexter does not limit the hub and drum assembly to 12 inch wheels so yes, you could use a 14 inch wheel with assembly # 8-257-5UC3.
Since you told me which hub you have, 008-258-05, I can tell you that you have a BTR spindle. It takes inner and outer bearing L44649. The spindle diameter is slightly more than 1 inch (1.063-ish inches).
No need to change the spindle since you won't need to go up to a 3.5K assembly! Should it come up in the future the spindles can be changed. It is easier to do if yours are bolted on. Otherwise the old ones have to be cut off and the new ones welded on by a professional with the proper equipment and experience to ensure the spindles are in the correct positions.

Hello Michael. I actually wanna do the opposite of this poster. I want to remove my electric brakes since my nucamp T@g SE only weight 1,100 pounds. I want to install Idler hubs. I'm pretty sure I need 008-258-05 idler hubs. My wheels are 15" The axle is a 2,200# axle 5 lug on 4.5 center Can you help me pick out the correct idler hub please? Thanks so much!
