Will this rack fit my vehicle and not ruin spoiler?

I checked with Yakima and the Fullback 2 part # Y02634 is a confirmed fit and would not damage the spoiler. If you check out the picture I attached that shows this rack installed on an X3 like yours you'll see that the strap does not put a lot of downward force on the spoiler.

If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.

But does it have to be in anchor mode or can I install the hook to the spoiler on the outside

@Mc Yakima recommends having the upper and lower hooks installed in anchor mode. Here's the full install notes: Outer/lower support frame rests on the lower portion of the license plate or well. When bikes are loaded, re-tension straps to ensure base pads only make contact with the vertical surface of the well or plate. Do not use rear wiper when carrier is installed. Yakima Hangout 2 trunk mounted rack max load of 60lbs. 30 lbs per bike. Yakima HalfBack 2 and FullBack 2 trunk mounted racks max load of 75lbs, 35 lbs per bike. Yakima 3 bike trunk mounted racks weight limit for 2 bikes is 60 lbs. / 3 bikes is 90 lbs. For this vehicle; Yakima Halfback, Fullback, and Hangout products require that the upper and lower hooks must be changed and installed in anchor mode. See instructions for anchor mode implementation. The headliner and or trunk liner on this vehicle may deform or be damaged under prolonged contact with this rack in anchor mode. Yakima Halfback, Fullback, and Hangout products require this rack installed in anchor mode. Anchor Hooks must be placed on floor of cargo area before closing hatch.
