While there aren't specific written instructions for Replacement Adapter Sleeve # Y8890342 I can tell you how it goes on. You will just need to line up the pin holes and mounting holes on the adapter with the associated holes on the bike rack shank and then use the included hardware and allen wrench to secure the adapter to the shank. Basically there is only one way that it goes on.
If the adapter does not line up with any holes on the bike rack shank then you may have a bike rack that is not compatible with this particular adapter. If you can tell me which Yakima bike rack you have I can double check for you.
