Question:

Thank you for the quick response. I know i can use an adapter but i just want to save up space and weight. For the other adapter option it will give me another 7 inches long of extra space. Thats why im thinkking of having adapter 8890174 it will make mik bike closer to the car. Picture is attached below.

The adapter 8890174 (discontinued) that you referenced is specifically designed to fit the Yakima Flipside, DoubleDown and StickUp Bike Carriers. If you can send me a picture of your bike rack I can confirm if it is one of these or if we have an adapter that will work for your application.

Thank you for the picture! It looks like you are using the Yakima HoldUp # Y02445 with a 1-1/4" shank. Although the adapter 8890174 will not fit the HoldUp I do have some other options for you. The first (and preferred) option is to get the Replacement Tongue # 8880580. This has a 2" shank and will fit in the place of your current 1-1/4" shank. Since this will still be a part of the bike rack it means there will be limited play and won't change how far the bike rack sticks out. The second option (less preferred but more cost-effective) is to use the Brophy Hitch Reducer # HT02. This will actually only add about 3" of length to your bike rack as you can tell from the distance between the hitch pin holes in the attached photo. Both options will work but again, the replacement tongue option will have less moving parts and connection points so your whole assembly will be much more sturdy.
