Weight Capacity of the CE Smith Winch Stand Part # CE31013G
Published 07/11/2018 >
Question:
The tongue width on my trailer is actually 2.5inch 2.5inch wide and 3.5inch high. I dont not know how much play there is in the width of winch stands. Which winch stands would you recommend to accomodate this tongue and would have a capacity sufficient for a 2000 lb wooden boat? Thanks

In order to attach the CE Smith Winch Stand part # CE31013G to your boat trailer you would need to cut off the bottom portion of the stand and weld that directly to your trailer's tongue as it is only designed to bolt onto a 2" wide trailer tongue.
I spoke to my contact at CE Smith and they stated that this winch stand has a weight capacity of 1,000 lbs however, this does not mean that the weight of the boat cannot exceed 1,000 lbs as the boat will be considered a rolling load and the pull strength needed to pull the boat up and onto the trailer would also be reduced if you have bunk boards. Therefore, it should work for you in regards to weight capacity.
Although the winch stand will require slight modifications, it will be the best option for you as we do not have any others like it at this time.
