Hollywood Racks Wheel Holder Replacements for Standard Width Wheels

Updated 07/02/2025 | Published 06/07/2018

Question:

Earlier this year we purchased a Hollywood Rack for our fat bikes. The Model is the HR1455B. Soon we will be purchasing two more bikes but these have only 2.3inch tires vs 4. Two questions: 1 Will the 4inch Wheel holders hold the 2.3inch tires adequately? or 2 Should we purchase a pair of the left side holders HRSPRWHL and a pair of the right side holders HRSPRWHR to replace the 4inch tire holders? Thank you

Expert Reply:

Your Hollywood Racks fat bike wheel holders will hold the thinner tires, but not as well as the standard size wheel holders. The fat bike holder is 5 inches wide where the standard holder is 3 inches wide. For your 2.3 inch bikes tires, I recommend getting a pair of left side holder # HRSPRWHL and right side holders # HRSPRWHR as you mentioned.

Hi I read the question and answer above and I have a similar question. I have a Flatbed2 DLX bike rack that is very similar to the Hollywood bike racks. The support beams are 1 1/4” by 1 1/4”. I have two different size wheel holders. One is 5” wide for my 4” fat tire bike which works well for that bike and the other measures a 2 3/4” wide opening which was great for standard size tires. I recently purchased a new bike with 3” wide tires and they will not go down into the 2 3/4” opening wheel holders. You said in the answer to the question above that these wheel holders are 3” wide. Is that the exact measurement of wheel holder opening? Will my new bike with 3” fat tires work in these wheel holders?

@SteveB Both the Replacement Wheel Holder for Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Bike Racks item # HRSPRWHL left side, and item # HRSPRWHR right side will work with 3" wide tire. The inside span of the wheel holders are 3". They are designed to fit 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" square tubing.
