Could 4.80-12 Trailer Tire Size Replace ST205/75-15

Question:

Can I replace a 4.80x12 wheel and tire with a ST205/75D15 on a utility trailer?

That's a pretty big tire size change but it's possible. The tire size of ST205/75-15 has an overall diameter of 27.1 inches and the diameter of the 4.80-12 will be 20.5 inches. So you'd end up with 3.3 less inches of fender clearance which you'll want around 4 inches of total. The width will be about 3 inches more too so you'd need to verify that is enough.

Your current wheels would have to have a bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inches too so that a wheel like the part # AM32424 could fit. There are no other bolt patterns in common betwen 12 and 15 inch trailer wheels.
